Student Athletic Contract

Kildala Elementary School Student Athletic Contract

Kildala School supports an active and healthy lifestyle.  Our school teams are  open to all students and no student will be cut from the team for physical or athletic reasons.  Participation by all is our theme. The coaches of Kildala teams are volunteers.  They are not trained coaches, but rather they are staff, parents, and high school students who give of their time because they see the value of the experience for our students.  They are deserving of our thanks and respect.Being on a school team should be an enjoyable and rewarding experience.  It allows for a level of competition and skill development that is usually not achieved in class.  It does however; carry an additional set of responsibilities and expectations.Athletic Code of Conduct

The coaches are in charge of the team, as well as the players on the team.  They make all of the decisions concerning the team and the players on the team.  Decisions regarding the make-up of teams and lines are based on a variety of criteria.  This criterion includes, but is not limited to, skill level, a willingness to learn, the balance of the teams and lines, and general attitudes towards peers, teachers and academics.

Students are responsible to listen for announcements, maintain their schedule sheets, and follow through on instructions.

It is expected that each student-athlete will do the best that he/she can during the games and at practices.  No coach will expect more or accept less.

Attendance at practices is mandatory unless previous arrangements have been made with the coach.  Students who miss practice should not expect to play during games.  They are expected to attend games and encourage students from the bench.

Each student-athlete is expected to be a team player and be supportive of all other team members whenever the team plays or practices.

Each student-athlete is expected to display the qualities of good sportsmanship and fair play; and to play the game according to the letter and the spirit of the rules.

It is important that the student-athlete maintain acceptable levels of academic achievement, effort, behavior and attitude about the school.  Serious concerns by any staff member, in any area, about any student, may result in that student being suspended form the team.
The ability and judgment of the referee is not to be questioned by any student-athlete or parent.  Any displays of disrespect in this area may result in the athlete’s removal from the game.

Trash-talking, during practices and in games, is not acceptable.  Also unacceptable is any behavior that embarrasses, unduly intimidates, threatens or humiliates another player, team, official, spectator or school.

Student-athletes who play school sports should have fun doing so!

Only proper attire, as determined by the coach, will be allowed at practices or games.  Our school uniforms are worn with PRIDE.  They must be treated with care and returned clean and in good condition.  Uniforms are not meant to be worn during the school day.

Any student who wishes to be part of a school team must agree to follow the guidelines as stated in this document.  Students who feel they cannot follow these guidelines should not attempt to become a member of a school team.  A student who becomes a member of a school team and fails to follow these guidelines may be asked to leave the team.

Students who play sports at any level should be able to enhance their skills and enjoy what they do.  It is with this thought in mind that these guidelines have been developed.
