New Policy for After School Times

Message from Mrs. Casgrain:

New Policy for After School Times

There have been several issues around student safety at after school times.

We have no after school supervision as students are expected to leave school grounds and go straight home after school.  It was expected that only bus students should be playing on school property as they wait for the bus.

We seem to be having more issues with student behavior after school including:

  • More student aggression
  • More altercations
  • Disregard for school rules
  • Snowballs
  • Students going off to a friend’s house without asking permission from parents.
  • Students going home so late that parents are worried.

For all of these reasons I have changed the policy for after the dismissal bell.

Beginning on Monday November 26th students are asked to go home immediately after school and to not stay to play.

I am asking that even the students who are picked up by parents follow this rule.   This must be a rule for all students.  If some students stay to play then others who should be walking home are tempted to stay too.  This is a safety issue.

Bus students will go to the lunch room after dismissal to wait for the bus there.

An additional bell will be added to our bell schedule at 3:05 pm.  At that time bus students will move to the front of the school to wait for the bus which normally comes between 3:10 and 3:15 pm.   The bus students will be supervised in the lunchroom by administration.

New After School Policy

All students are to leave the playground and go home after school except for the bus students.

There is no play time after school.

Bus students are to go to the lunchroom after being dismissed where they will wait until the 3:05 bell.   At the 3:05 bell they will go to the front of the school to wait for the bus.
